Please read the following Frequently Asked Questions before sending a new question. If you're reporting a bug, you can help us out by including the following with your report:
  1. Your computer and operating system (e.g. Mac OSX, Windows 7)
  2. The browser you're using, and its version (e.g. Firefox 4.0, Safari 3.0)
  3. The URL where the problem occurred.
  4. Tell us how to reproduce the problem, if you know how.

Here are answers to the most common questions people ask us. Please review them before submitting a new question.

  • Do I have to pay to use this service? Yes, this is a paid service. However you may be eligible for low or no fees if you have high sales elsewhere. If that describes you, we invite you to learn more about our Red Carpet Plans.

  • Why do you charge? We provide publishing tools that ensure your ebook is in the right format for every major retailer, eReading device and app. We can submit the file for you, or give you a way to get the full file to submit on your own. Other services don't provide these options.

  • I have my own ePub file. Can I upload it? Yes! Just choose the Upload ePub option in the Create Book wizard. Note that your ePub must pass ePubCheck in order to be accepted.
  • Do you take a percentage of my royalties? Yes, but you keep 95% of post-retail royalties. If you download the file and submit it on your own, we don't keep any post-retail royalties.

  • Who owns the copyright to my book? You do as the author.

  • Can I submit a book on behalf of another author? You can submit a book for another author only if you have the legal rights to do so. If you don't know what this means -- don't do it.

  • Can I get a print version of my book? Yes. Learn more about BookBrewer's Print on Demand service.

  • Can you help me format my book? Because we're a self-serve publishing service, we don't provide formatting or data entry help at this time. However, we can connect you with a conversion shop that may be able to help you. Contact us and let us know more about your book and we will let you know if we can recommend a good match for your needs.

  • Can you read my book or copy edit it? As a publishing service we never interfere with your content, so we are not able to copy edit your book. We only read it if someone notifies us of a Terms of Service violation.

  • Why can't I just upload my file? We distribute your book everywhere. Some retailers, such as Apple iBooks, require a dynamic Table of Contents (see Apple's quality standards). You must add each chapter individually in your ePub file in order for this table of contents to be created. BookBrewer tools make that easy and in most cases it only adds 20 minutes to your work. (and if you can't be bothered to spend 20 more minutes on your book, are you really ready to publish yet? Remember, a book is forever!)

  • Do you promote my book? We do not get directly involved in book promotion for anyone except members of our Red Carpet Author Program. And there's a good reason for this. Time and again, we see that the books that sell best are promoted directly by the authors themselves. We don't want to get in the way of your success.

  • But how do I know if my content will work as an eBook? Just use our tools for FREE to create a sample eBook. Start an account and choose Create eBook, then build your book and download a proof -- all without spending a penny. You aren't charged until you ask us to distribute the book, or download the full file.

  • Help! My coupon code won't work!  If you purchased more than one coupon at a time, it's possible that one of them won't work. If this is happening to you, please scroll down and click Contact Us and open a help ticket. Include the coupon codes you purchased. We will investigate and get back to you with new codes. We apologize for this temporary inconvenience and hope to have this issue resolved shortly.

  • How do I redeem my Gift of Publishing Certificate? Build your eBook. Test your eBook. Proofread your eBook. Select the Conversion and Distribution package. Upon checking out, simply enter the code in the Coupon Code field of the credit card into page and click Apply. This will reduce the cost of the package to $0.00.

  • I purchased the gift certificate for someone else. Do they need my account to use it? No. The gift certificate codes are not tied to accounts in any way. Anyone who has the code can use it. Simply send the recipient the code and they can use it on checkout.

  • Does my gift certificate expire? Yes, your code expires one year after the date of purchase.
